Running for Rosebuds 5K/10K
Elisa, a single mom new to our community was working to complete her degree as a medical assistant. She really wanted to focus on parenting her new baby and completing her degree. She faithfully attended Parenting and Bible classes where she earns baby items. This has allowed her to concentrate on being a great mom. She was so blessed by Spero that she wanted to give back doing what she loves—Running! In 2018, she organized Running for Rosebuds 5K with another community member and approximately 30 runners participated! Together they raised a profit of $1452!! Join us if you like to run or just enjoy a nice day out. Elisa has agreed to make it an annual event!
In 2019 Elisa was 1 of 6 women chosen nationwide for “Babies Go to Congress”. Imagine your lawmakers in Washington, D.C. meeting with women who chose life at our center and showing how pregnancy centers are good for America. Heartbeat International’s “Babies Go to Congress” is powerful and just prior to the annual March for Life in Washington D.C. in January each year. The March of 800,000+ strong shares the vision of a world where the beauty, dignity, and uniqueness of every human life are valued.
Jennifer MacDonald, the executive director of Spero, says that stories like Elisa’s are not uncommon. “While we see many where the women who come to us are hopeless, we help many in a variety of situations, it’s not just about women seeking an abortion. We talk with her and find out what her situation is, what challenges is she facing. We find the best way to help her and make her feel comfortable, not judged or threatened.”
